The National Press Club began in 1908 when a Washington Times reporter Graham Nichol and colleague James Hay decided reporters needed a private club for the righteous purposes of drinking, poker and gossip.  Thirty-two fellow newspapermen donated $10 each and the National Press Club was born in the F Street Parlor of the Willard Hotel.

In discussing the dynamics of social and scientific advancement, it is important to highlight the concept of the "changing of the guard." I was born a bit over six months before a non-human created and non-human piloted vehicle slammed into a field northwest of Roswell, New Mexico. The compelling biological nature of that process required I be conceived a bit over six months after atomic bombs were detonated above two Japanese cites. As it happens, my father, a Navy medical corpsman serving in the Pacific Theater, was able to facilitate this outcome because those bombs ended a war and mustered him home. I was a baby boomer in the rawest sense.

There are indications we may be at an inflection point regarding Disclosure. How do I know this? With great difficulty. Why so difficult? Given the connection of The WOW! Signal to Hollywood, I will use an analogy based on a classic western film scene.

I’m sitting in the shadowed corner of a typical saloon sipping a beer reflecting on the vicissitudes of life. A bar fight breaks out. A cowboy gets hit with a chair. He retaliates with a beer mug to the face. Another cowboy gets thrown through the front window. Dance hall girls are hiding under the table. The chandelier crashes to the floor.

The idea for World UFO Day, just celebrated on July 2, started being tossed around at the turn of the 21st Century. June 24 was proposed as the date relating to the Kenneth Arnold sighting. Eventually this idea was formalized in 2010 by the World Disclosure Day Organization likely based in the Netherlands. The day selected was associated with the UAP crash near Roswell, NM - July 2.

On March 5 of this year, I received a referral from Ron James, a filmmaker and the Director of Media Relations for MUFON. Ron had received this request, below, from Wall Street Journal national security reporter, Joel Schectman:

A few years ago, a guy came up to me and said, "Steve." Yeah? I reply. "What will the last days of the Truth Embargo be like? You know, as we get close to Disclosure."

I had a pretty good idea what the answer was to his query, but it was difficult to describe. I did my best, but what I needed was a metaphor. It has taken years, but at last I have one.

Of late, I find myself searching for an analogy gleaned from one of the A-list films of all times to the Disclosure process currently underway. I think I found one, Raiders of the Lost Ark -- IMDb 8.4, Rotten Tomatoes 94% Fresh.

Let's agree "Capitol Disclosure" would be the perfect name for a weekly report or daily podcast revealing behind the scenes machinations taking place on the Hill at the north end of the Washington Mall.
