Inflection Point: Definition: A Time of Significant Change in a Situation
Capitol Disclosure By Stephen Bassett
August 2025
There are indications we may be at an inflection point regarding Disclosure. How do I know this? With great difficulty. Why is this so difficult? Given the connection of The WOW! Signal to Hollywood, I will use an analogy based on a classic western film scene.
I’m sitting in the shadowed corner of a typical saloon sipping a beer reflecting on the vicissitudes of life. A bar fight breaks out. A cowboy gets hit with a chair. He retaliates with a beer mug to the face. Another cowboy gets thrown through the front window. Dance hall girls are hiding under the table. The chandelier crashes to the floor.
Safe in my secluded corner I contemplate how this is going to end. I’m looking for an inflection point. Was it the chandelier? Usually, it’s when the sheriff walks in with a shotgun and says something like, “All right, boys, the party’s over.” What if the sheriff is out of town?
It’s like that. I’m sitting in my office in Washington, D.C., two blocks from the White House, watching the greatest national bar fight since the Civil War. Disclosure is hiding under a table. What is an indication for how this will end? When is the sheriff going to show up? How can Disclosure escape from under the table? What is the inflection point?
Then, amidst the chaos, it manifests, or person-ifests, if you prefer gender neutral verbs. Going into the next congressional session beginning September 2, this is what we know:
Rep. Eric Burlison has taken over the UAP portfolio of the Task Force on Declassifying Federal Secrets. He has made it clear he wants another UAP hearing in September.
Senator Mike Rounds has again reintroduced the full UAP Disclosure Amendment. The original act in 2023 was stripped of key provisions before being passed. The full act was resubmitted in 2024 as an amendment and withdrawn when it was clear it would be blocked.
One House member, Rep. Burlison, has agreed to co-sponsor the amendment in the House. Other co-sponsors are being sought.
Extraordinary new research indicates there were objects in synchronous orbit around the Earth prior to 1957 before any human satellites were launched. Not a few, hundreds. There is only one explanation for that.
Then there is the matter of the Sheriff, aka, the President of the United States. [Note to everyone in the “saloon:” this analysis is not partisan. Seriously. Not partisan. Capiche?]
Quite possibly the biggest scandal in American history is taking shape with the power to upend the hopes and dreams of dozens? scores? hundreds? of famous and not so famous persons. It is already obvious it will be excruciatingly difficult to, as they say, put the lid on it.
What to do? Distract and buy time.
A scandal of this magnitude is going to need a bigger boat – a MUCH bigger boat. This is what we know:
On January 15, four days before the inauguration of his father, Donald Trump, Jr., interviewed Lue Elizondo and Ross Coulthart on his “Vetted” podcast for one and a half hours on the matter of UAPs and Disclosure.
On August 1, Vice President JD Vance went on the “Ruthless Podcast” and stated he’s “obsessed with whole UFO thing.” [Obsessed? I know obsessed.] He added, “What’s actually going on? What were those videos all about? What’s actually happening? I haven’t gotten to the bottom of it yet, but we’re only six months in.”
On August 5, the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, on the New York Post’s “Pod Force One,” stated she believes in the possibility of extraterrestrials and UFOS and added "We’re continuing to look for the truth and share that truth with the American people."
A number of sources have claimed President Trump has been briefed one or more times on the matter of UFOs.
Vice Presidents and Directors of National Intelligence don’t generally go on podcasts and shoot the breeze about ETs. But podcasts are a safe way to “read the room” and find out how people will react to a controversial idea or policy. The reaction was fine.
If the President of the United States were to step forward and confirm the presence of technologically advanced non-humans in our world, Disclosure, would that dominate the attention of the public and the media for months, a year, longer?
If I were a close adviser to the President, that’s the question I would be asking.
