Book Review: “Stranger at the Pentagon” Book By Reverend Frank Stranges

Book Review by Nick Blake

Like Reverend Stranges, following a religious path led me to study UFOs. During WWII my grandfather enlisted in the Army and was shipped to the Pacific. After collecting dog tags from dead soldiers and writing notes home to the families, when grandfather returned home he devoted himself to preaching the Word of peace & brotherhood among all people.

My father took up the call in the 1960s and became a minister as well. My own spiritual calling led me to become a hermit monk instead of going to college at the age of 18. During my mid-20s quarter life crisis I spent time in Weston Priory in Weston, Vermont, where the Benedictine brothers taught me a meditation technique they were taught by Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh: listen with the ear of your heart.

I have not yet become a minister like my father and grandfather; my calling is to actively engage with the world using my creativity (writing, music, video productions).

By the time I got seriously into UFOlogy during the pandemic I had already been living a life of religious devotion and practice. When my wife and I honeymooned in India, I developed such a strong respect and love for all life that I started catching and releasing cockroaches from our hotel rooms. Nowadays I still catch and release insects from my home. When my son turned thirteen I took him camping and taught him everything I know about life — starting with the Lord’s Prayer.

Something that attracted me early on to UFOlogy was the strong religious sentiment running through it, with a particular focus on the universal themes of love and harmony. Many skeptics and secular materialists are wary of Frank Stranges’ strange book, Stranger at the Pentagon, because of the strong religious themes throughout. To me, the prominence of those themes make his strange story more credible.

According to Stranges, a saucer craft landed in Arlington, VA in 1957. Two policemen approached with weapons drawn. The human-looking being who emerged was whisked to the Pentagon, then by secret underground tunnel directly to the Oval Office of the White House across the Potomac where he met with President Eisenhower and Vice-President Nixon.

The human identified himself as Valiant Thor, the leader of a delegation from Planet Venus sent to help steer humanity away from nuclear apocalypse. He offered Eisenhower technology that would liberate and empower humanity so we could grow as a civilization without continuing the industrial rape of our planet. Eisenhower declined because he was concerned these technologies and knowledge of interplanetary races would destroy our financial and religious systems. But the military was very interested in learning more about Val’s craft and indestructible, lightweight space suit.

Shortly after this visit with Eisenhower, Val and three of his crew attend a backyard gathering at contactee Howard Menger’s house. Photos of them are taken, which are later shared with Rev Stranges who was researching and speaking openly about UFOs and Biblical connections. Rev Stranges shows these photos at some UFO conferences, which prompts a visit from a CIA operative who asks, “Would you like to meet the man in the photos?”

Rev Stranges eagerly accepts, is taken to the Pentagon and meets Val Thor who greets him by saying, “Hi, Frank, how are you?”

Val and some of his crew remain as envoys through the 1960s, beginning the rumored “Venutians in the White House” phase of government-alien collaboration. Rev Stranges becomes good friends with the Venutians, including several meetings with Val. Rev Stranges summarizes the geo-political situation on Earth as follows:

There are still to this day many adversaries to human freedom. These parasites have imbedded themselves in all phases of human society and will never be exposed except by extraterrestrial intervention. There are confused individuals who have perfected a saucer-type aircraft. Some of these are the result of an attempt by some to institute a master race. Remnants of this group still exist. These craft which they designed are still seen from time to time in areas of South America where some of those involved in the original plans still reside. These should not be confused with the spacecraft originating from other worlds or those coming from the interior of this planet. Nor should the occupants of craft originating from other worlds be confused with those “evil messengers” who do not originate from Earth but were cast INTO it after the first “war” ever recorded. They are in league with Earthly lowgrades who have condemned themselves because of their own choices.

Based on my own research this appears to be as true today as it was back then.

Since Eisenhower rejected the Veneutian envoy’s peace offerings, the Veneutians embedded themselves in our society, living among us to help aid and uplift humanity. They look identical to Earth-born humans but have super-powers: mind control, teleportation, prayer healing, the ability to reach through physical objects and pull people through a closed car door.

Bad news for us potheads: we may find the ganja to be a sacred herb that connects us to God, but the Venusians feel otherwise. Rev Stranges states emphatically that the Space Brothers NEVER smoke and don’t hang out with smokers. We’re stuck hanging out with Shiva devotees, Deadheads and Rastafarians.

One chapter is devoted to a description of various craft, especially the Starship in orbit around the planet and the numerous Victor-class ships positioned around the world in an attempt to reduce the harmful effects of humanity’s actions, including ships that enclose and neutralize some of the fallout from our numerous nuclear bomb explosions.

The book ends with a chapter written by Valiant Thor himself, then finally a postscript of “signs and wonders” that Rev Stranges says will come to pass during the Last Days of Judgement. We are witnessing many of these signs and wonders coming true today, nearly 60 years later. The rest could well happen over the next decade.

The whole Stranges story is full of interesting statements that lack the detail necessary to make the author’s point acceptable to the skeptical masses. Before reading Stranges’ book I had already found the supporting details from prominent UFO disclosure advocates, particularly from Dr Greer and Danny Sheehan. So by the time I read Stranges’ tale about his time with Valiant Thor, my research filled in most of the gaps.

But the point of the book isn’t about corroborating details. Stranges’ book is intended for those with a spiritual calling to hear Val’s call for a religious awakening.

Importantly, the book stands in opposition to the dominant “threat” narratives. Mainstream UFO narratives are based on fear: scary aliens or secret governments or rogue civilizations. Stranges’ book reveals the extraterrestrial point of view: these bad things may exist, but the ETs follow the law of Love and are more powerful than the deluded evil people and beings.

Upon finishing the book all I could think was: Thank God the Venutians are here to help. We need all the help we can get.
