My Out of This World Trip to Ireland
Special Guest Column by Camille James Harman, M.F.A., HDA Founding Member
This past summer, I spent twelve days touring Ireland with my friend, Jennifer. We had always wanted to go there, as we are of Irish descent. I’m also a UAP/NHI experiencer, so I made sure that prior to our 10-day bus tour, I would add a day trip to the megaliths Knowth and Newgrange, 5000-year-old ancient tombs and astronomical sites which resemble landed flying saucers.
We chose Mary Gibbons Tours. Mary is a delightful, knowledgeable tour guide. Joining us for this day trip was my Facebook friend, experiencer Arfon Jones, a Welshman living in Northern Ireland, who took the train from Belfast to meet me in person in Dublin. Arfon encountered a non-human intelligence on the side of the road while driving in Northern Ireland in 2016.

Firstly, we visited Knowth, a remarkable complex of dome-shaped, grassy, earthen tombs, the largest featuring rocks around the perimeter with carvings of spirals and other shapes. Our on-site guide mentioned the importance of the Pleiades to the ancients, so I confided in her that two members of her tour had had alien encounters. She told us she had memories of being taken as a child!
Next was Newgrange, another dome-shaped tomb, where you can walk deep inside the corridor to the center. There, it ends in three excavated burial sites, each of which had been guarded by a dog. We experienced a moving special effect for visitors, the recreation of the winter solstice rising sun, which slowly illuminated the corridor, symbolizing the renewal of life for the dead in the afterworld.
Lastly, we visited the Hill of Tara, a mystical site of interdimensional happenings where Irish kings were coronated at the Stone of Destiny, a phallic stone that beckons to creative photographers. It symbolized the marriage of the king to the Earth goddess Maeve.
The next day in Dublin, I visited the beautiful National Museum of Ireland, Archaeology building on Kildare Street. Two types of gold items caught my eye: strange, double cone-shaped, lock rings and a trove of hollow, golden balls, about 4 inches in diameter, from 800-700 B.C. Again, I wondered if the ancients modeled them after UAPs.
The next day, we began a 10-day bus tour of Ireland, visiting many beautiful tourist attractions. I kissed the Blarney Stone, got windblown at the Cliffs of Moher, and pet Connemara ponies at Kylemore Abbey.
We visited Knock Shrine, where an apparition of several illuminated, levitating, holy figures appeared outside a church on a rainy night in 1879. It is a Church-sanctioned Marian apparition. I prayed and put holy water on several parts of my body.
That night, we slept in Sligo, home of poet William Butler Yeats. We were all stunned as we pulled up to the Clayton Hotel. As an avid member of the Tartaria research subculture, I immediately suspected the building was a grand asylum from the 1800s. I was correct, it had previously been a mental asylum from 1850-1992 before being converted into a hotel. A quick internet search confirmed it was haunted.
I had a feeling I was going to have my first ghost encounter while there. Back in the 1980s, I spent the night with friends at the Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana. I didn’t see a ghost, but two members of our group saw a UAP that night! I wasn’t even into UAPs back then.
Sleeping that night at the Clayton in room 4105, I was awakened with head-to-toe goosebumps. I was sleeping on my side, facing my friend in her bed. Next, I felt and heard something scratching the sheets near my hands and knees. I was relieved that I was not in a state of sleep paralysis, as I had experienced before with the NHI visitations. For some reason, this time, I was brave enough to scratch back on the sheets and tap my fingers, as to respond, “I felt that!”
Immediately, the ghost scratched back, more fervently, then poked me in the arm with a finger! That was enough for me. I yelled, “Oh my God! Stop in the name of Jesus Christ!” It stopped. I stayed awake praying for the ghost, not knowing what time it was, as the drapes were drawn and my phone was charging across the room. Thankfully, my alarm went off about a half-hour later. At least the ghost let me get a good night’s sleep. Jennifer had heard the whole thing but didn’t tell me she was awake!
That morning, I reported the ghost encounter to the folks at the front desk. At breakfast, I asked our tourmates if they’d experienced anything weird. No one had, only me. Later that morning, we visited Tobernalt Holy Well, which has been a source of healing since pre-Christian times. I prayed and put the well water on myself.
A long-standing knee problem I’d had, almost disappeared after my trip to Ireland -- a miracle I’m attributing to answers to my prayers. It was the best trip of my life, even better than my trip to England in 1998 to see the crop circles.
My advice to others: before visiting Ireland, immerse yourself in the general history and sites related to fairy lore, spirituality and miracles. I also recommend watching Ancient Aliens “The Shining Ones” to learn about the Tuatha de Danann.
