Dreams of Earl Grey Anderson & New Opportunities
Our Shifting Reality By CJ Arabia
March 2026
For anyone who doesn’t already know, Earl Grey Anderson was the MUFON State Director for Southern California. He was my boss, mentor and one of my best friends. We spoke several times a day, but Earl talked to lots of people throughout the day. He was a people person. It’s been almost a year since Earl died and there’s still a huge Earl shaped hole in the UFO community that isn’t going away anytime soon.
I took one of those DNA tests at ancestry.com and I got the deluxe package with character traits and one of the traits was fascinating to me. It said that I was very unlikely to remember my dreams. Who knew that was something you could see in my spit? I don’t know how you determine that from a DNA test, but many of the traits listed were very accurate and this one was especially so. I had started to believe that I just don’t dream. Well, rarely. Years go by without me remembering a dream, and now I know why. It’s in my DNA. It’s in my spit. So it was truly magical to wake up from a dream recently… a dream of Earl Grey Anderson. A dream I could remember quite vividly.
In my dream I was in a dark room or porch, it had walls, but it was all dark… there were people, dark figures moving about around me and Earl walked up to me smiling and I kissed him and hugged him and said, “Oh my God Earl! It’s Earl!” And he said “I’ve been watching you since you thought I was dead and I want you to know that I’m really proud of the work you’re doing. Really proud of you. You’re doing great work.” And I thought, “Thank God Earl’s back and he can take over SoCal MUFON again! Everything can go back to the way it was! Everything can go back to normal.”
Then a door opened in the ceiling, and a staircase came down, and light shone through, and a man said, “Earl, I need to talk to you in this room.” And I said, “That’s not a room, that’s a hole in the ceiling!” And Earl smiled and walked up the stair case, and the man closed the door, the room returned to darkness and Earl was gone… again.
It felt so good to see Earl. Oh how I wish Earl could come back to us and everything could return to the way it was. I just want everything to go back to the way it was. But that’s not how the world works.
A few days after my dream with Earl I received a change in position at MUFON. I’m now the Southwest Regional Director https://mufon.com/find-a-chapter/ for Texas, California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Nevada, New Mexico, and Hawaii. I always told Earl I didn’t want to move up the ranks at MUFON, that I was perfectly happy in my position as Field Investigator, but a lot of things have happened since then and sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
I study UFOs for myself. Because of what I saw as a child. I still have many unanswered questions personally. I don’t necessarily buy into may of the conventional theories and ideas. I question everything. I’m excited to be more familiar with cases in a wider area, the entire Southwest region. These are high UFO traffic states. New Mexico’s Roswell & White Sands and Nevada’s area 51 are legendary. Texas and California are always high report territories. Hawaii and Oklahoma also experience their share of mysterious lights in the sky. This is going to be fun! Buckle up, Buttercup!
I meet a lot of people in the UFO community who believe there are no coincidences. I meet a lot of people who believe that everything happens for a reason. I’m not one of those people, but it’s all very curious. Dreams of Earl Grey Anderson and new opportunities.
Before Earl died I told him that I didn’t ever want to be the State Director, and Earl laughed and said, “You know C.J., sometimes the best State Directors are the people who don’t want to be the State Director.”
