New MUFON Alaskan Group Launches
Chugiak, AK, October 2025 – MUFON Alaska’s new State Director Shay Malone-Klingbiel has announced the launch of a new MUFON Alaskan Group.

Says Malone-Klingbiel, “Our goal is to advance MUFON’s objective toward credible UFO/UAP/USO inquiry through ethical investigations, science-based methods, public education, and respectful community building, while providing insights on the UAP phenomenon as it occurs in Alaska and worldwide.”
She adds, “Our intent is to foster informed discussion of ideas relating to areas of interest in UFOlogy, and to share with the public how to report UAP/UFO or non-human contact experiences with MUFON. Exciting times are ahead for our growing Chapter as we plan to begin regularly scheduled meetings and activities both online and on locations around the State.”
Malone-Klingbiel explains that Alaska is a beautiful and vast area with over 95% of the land being uninhabited. With a population of just over 740,000 humans state-wide, it is no surprise that a land such as this is incredibly mysterious. There are numerous UAP/UFO sightings, as well as stories and experiences individuals have had that involve cryptids, missing persons and other anomalous activity, leading many to believe that, in spite of the dark and deadly cold winters, Alaska has long been a hotspot for the paranormal.
Many of these occurrences take place in an area called “The Alaska Triangle,” which extends from Anchorage and Juneau north to Utqiagvik, the town formerly known as Barrow. A mountain of interest in Alaskan ufology that was recently discussed in the MUFON Alaska Chapter is Mount Hayes, which is near the center of the “Triangle,” about one hundred miles from Fairbanks in the Eastern Alaska Range.
Alaska MUFON Field Investigator Jeff Kinsman can see Mount Hayes from his home. Over the years, there has been speculation that there is an underground alien base inside the mountain, leading to some calling it “Alaska’s Area 51.”
“There is much of interest to investigate here in The Last Frontier and MUFON’s new Alaska Chapter is just getting started!” Malone-Klingbiel concludes.
