Spielberg’s New “Disclosure” Movie Trailer To Play In Theaters Before New “Avatar” Film

Los Angeles, CA, Dec. 15, 2025 -- Due out in June 2026, Steven Spielberg’s secretive next film, “Disclosure,” will have its first trailer appear playing in theaters in front of James Cameron’s new film “Avatar: Fire & Ash. The news was reported here: https://filmstories.co.uk/news/steven-spielberg-trailer-for-mystery-ufo-movie-to-appear-in-front-of-avatar-fire-and-ash/

Writes Ryan Lambie: What exactly has Steven Spielberg been up to over the past few months or so? The title and subject of his latest movie have been a well-kept secret until now, but it could be that we’ll finally learn more about it later this month.

According to Hollywood scoop detector Daniel Richtman (via World Of Reel), the trailer for Spielberg’s new film will play in front of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire And Ash, out on the 19th December.

We aren’t well connected enough to verify this ourselves, but the timing makes sense. Spielberg showed footage of his movie to a select group of celebs and other well-heeled people at Universal Pictures a few months ago, which suggested that Spielberg and his collaborators were getting close to having something to show to the wider public (filming began in February and ended in late May this year).

Starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo and Wyatt Russell, the “Disclosure” movie is another collaboration between Spielberg and screenwriter David Koepp. The pair previously worked on Jurassic Park and its sequel, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, and an adaptation of The War Of The Worlds.

Reports from that preview footage screening at Universal in June have described a chase scene, with Blunt driving away from multiple black cars on a road adjoining a railway track. According to Variety, Firth appears to be the villain of the piece, and seemingly the head of some sort of secretive Men In Black-style organization.

If previous reports are accurate, then Spielberg’s movie is a return to the alien visitation theme of Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. It’d be logical programming, then, to promote a big-budget sci-fi film ahead of James Cameron’s similarly fantastical Avatar sequel. Avengers: Doomsday is also said to have a trailer attached to Fire And Ash.

Spielberg’s “new original event film” is due for release on the 12th June 2026.
