Jim Penniston is internationally recognized for his central role in the Rendlesham Forest incident of 1980, one of the most documented and compelling UFO encounters in modern history. As a United States Air Force Security Forces Sergeant stationed at RAF Woodbridge, Penniston was among the first responders to the event and reported a close encounter with a landed craft of unknown origin. His detailed testimony has made him a respected and enduring figure in UFO research.
Penniston’s background extends far beyond one historic moment. Over his distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, he served in elite security roles within the Strategic Air Command, protecting high-level personnel and sensitive assets. His military service included assignments under Top Secret, SCI, and NATO COSMIC/ATOMAL clearances, participation in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and extensive experience in counterterrorism, defense planning, and law-enforcement operations.
