In Memoriam Earl Grey Anderson
Los Angeles, CA, May 2025 -- Earl Grey Anderson, a beloved, longtime leader of Southern California’s UFO Community, MUFON’s State Director of Southern California, a MUFON STAR Team member, and an executive committee member of MUFON’s ERT: The Experiencer Resource Team, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025.
In his work with MUFON, Earl closed a plethora of High Strangeness cases, one of which was presented as one of MUFON’s “Cases of the Year” at the 2021 MUFON Symposium. Earl also hosted the Experiencer Workshops for MUFON’s 2022 Denver Symposium and for the 2023 MUFON Symposium, in Cincinnati Ohio. He appeared on dozens of TV shows and documentary films, including the popular TV series Ancient Aliens, discussing the UFO Phenomenon. He was also a Guest Speaker at several Contact in the Desert UFO events.
Earl, himself an ET Experiencer, long felt that the Experiencer Phenomenon was the beating heart of Ufology. “If we wish to understand this phenomenon,” he often said, “we need to listen to those who have had face to face encounters.”
Multi-talented, Earl was also a noted Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist and a Licensed Nurse. He studied at Moorpark College and taught a class on UFOlogy at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Additionally, Earl was also a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance.
According to Earl’s Facebook Page, a post from his family on April 27, 2025, stated: “Earl Grey Anderson passed away peacefully this morning at 4:04am. This time last week, he had improved radically; he was still sick with cancer, but he was back to his old self: cracking jokes, waxing poetic, and looking forward to seeing all of his friends again. We were all certain he was going to get better. But on Monday, April 21, 2025, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in the hospital and was on life support ever since.
Our dad and our family endured a harrowing week of interventions and assessments; but after trying every solution possible, it became clear that it was his time to go. He passed peacefully this morning with his beloved wife, Lisa, by his side. We wish everyone who loved him to know that he was never-once alone in the hospital. He was surrounded by his loving wife, two daughters, his son, and his eldest grandson. Our family is sure he felt your love from afar. Our dad was a powerful force; this loss will take ages to process for all of us, and we appreciate your love and your patience as we grieve and manage his affairs in our private ways. All we can say right now is: We love you, Dad, to the moons of Jupiter and back again. Thank you for sharing yourself so fully with the world.”
Earl was a full-time UFOlogist. He lived with his wife Lisa, and two cats, in Winnetka, CA. Said Dan Harary, Chairman of The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance, “We lost a giant with Earl’s passing. He had the biggest heart in the world and was loyal and loving to his core. Our Southern California UFO Community mourns his loss deeply. He was a leader and a colleague – a renowned researcher and an important voice on this topic. But most importantly to countless dozens of us in LA and across the USA, he was a true friend.”
