In Memoriam: Dr. C.M. Chantal Toporow Passes Away at 68

Los Angeles, CA, August – Renowned engineering teacher, scientist, and longtime MUFON member Dr. C.M. Chantal Toporow has passed away on August 18, at the age of 68. She was also a MUFON Field Investigator and a member of the So Cal MUFON Experiencer’s Resource Team.

Regarding her passing, Mike Riso, So Cal MUFON’s State Section Director, said, “It is with great sadness in my heart to learn of the transition of Dr. C.M. Chantal Toporow. I was looking forward to seeing her again to share more stories, memories and experiences. Even though I know that Chantal is not fully gone, but, rather, now in a different realm, it is sad from this human perspective to know I will not be able to share her company again. I only had the privilege of knowing her for a few years, but I instantly saw she was a maverick and trailblazer – on an unstoppable quest for the truth. Without regard to stigma or societal acceptance, Dr. Chantal explored the weird and wonderful in the most scientific, intellectual and professional of ways. She was inspirational to me and to all who met her. Dr. Chantal, thank you for being our friend and thank you for paving the way on this unending quest for truth. May your beacon of light continue to shine upon all of us you encountered, forevermore.”

According to Mr. Riso, Dr. Chantal would often regal her friends with stories about her amazing life experiences, including: being the youngest ever, and first ever, female professor at UCLA; working with Dr. Hal Puthoff on projects she could not reveal deals about other than suggesting that Dr. Puthoff proved to her that remote viewing was real; and her revealing that law enforcement frequently engages remote viewers in hard-to-solve and missing persons cases.

Since retiring from a full career in aerospace, Dr. C.M. Chantal Toporow was a consultant since 2014 for the HOUSE OF FILM, a worldwide boutique film distribution company operating now for over fifteen years. She and the company attended the major film and TV markets.

Dr. Toporow was also certified as an International MUFON Field Investigator and a member of the MUFON ERT (Experiencer Resource Team). She was committed to helping to contribute to this most interesting of enigmas science is trying to decipher.

She had extensive experience in scientific research, development, application & management of technology. While working at Hughes Aircraft EDSG, and having earned a degree from UCLA Engineering, Dr. Toporow immediately began teaching at UCLA. She taught graduate engineering at UCLA, then added other schools to her teaching credentials including CSULB and CSUN, before moving on to environmental courses at LMU, SMC & Otis Parsons School of Art and Design.

She retired from Northrop Grumman Space (TRW), where she developed advanced technologies for leading edge satellites going to all corners of our planetary system. 

Dr. Toporow also taught esoteric sciences at the Rhine Institute for Parapsychology and was Education Chair and on the Executive Committee for the Society for Scientific Exploration.
