What Did My Father Know - Part Two

Hollywood P.O.V. By Dan Harary

August 2025

Last month in this column, I presented the details behind the extraordinary UFO sighting I had with my late father back in 1970; how I recalled that event 47 years later, in 2017, just a few days after my dad died; how that recall led to the writing of my book AFTER THEY CAME; and how I subsequently learned many things about my dad I’d never known previously.

In this, Part Two of “What Did My Father Know?”, I will present additional research, including the story behind my dad’s remarkable workplace, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. I began this research in 2017 for the first time in my life, only after my father’s passing.

According to the book “A History of Army Communications and Electronics: 1917 – 2007,” Fort Monmouth was the site of some of the most significant communications and electronics breakthroughs in military history, and was known as America’s Home of the Signal Corps. During the 20th Century, over 4,000 patents were issued to the scientists and engineers who invented new technologies at Ft. Monmouth. The forerunner of the Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force had its roots in Ft. Monmouth!

My father was based at Ft. Monmouth’s Camp Evans (ECOM-EVANS) in Wall Township, New Jersey. That secondary site of the base was the “Radar, Electronics and New Technologies” Lab, where America’s top scientists were housed, and from where those 4,000 U.S. patents originated.

Also, in that same book, I learned that Fort Monmouth owned 200-acres of land in West Deal, New Jersey, called the Deal Test Site. That site, which was covered in very tall radar towers and various bungalows, was the first site anywhere in North America to detect Russia’s Sputnik satellite in 1957. Werner von Braun also once visited that site. Here’s what’s interesting: The Deal Test Site was DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY CHILDHOOD HOME!  Now I know why my dad bought that property back in 1963.

During his life, my father had only ever told me two things about his career: He once told me he’d invented a drone that looked like a flying garbage can that shot film, then parachuted the rolls of film— which emitted electronic beeping signals—down to the ground, so our troops could find them and retrieve them. And each time I asked my dad what he did for a living, he would always (and only) reply, “I helped America win the Cold War.”

In 2023, Dr. Steven Greer held a press conference from the Washington, D.C., Press Club, which was televised. As I watched on my big TV screen, I saw as Greer presented evidence of 145 U.S. Military Bases that he had proof of, through his extensive, whistleblower network, of military bases that had its scientists working on the reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial technology gleaned from crashed UFO crafts retrieved from around the world. I freeze-framed Greer’s chart and, much to my surprise, saw that listed as # 51 on that chart was FT. MONMOUTH, New Jersey!

Early this summer, I read a book called “Fort Monmouth: The U.S. Army’s House of Magic.” In that book, I learned that the scientists at the fort had, starting in the 1930s, invented the following: radar, weather and TV satellites, walkie-talkies, night-vision, FM radio, air to ground radio, laser-guided drones, and countless other devices. I also read that on the site of the former main campus of Ft. Monmouth – in Eatontown, NJ – NETFLIX is currently building a movie studio. And on the site of my dad’s former workplace, Camp Evans, today stands the INFO AGE Museum. (I intend to visit that museum this fall.) I understand the museum has a “Wall of Fame” comprised of photos of many who worked there. I plan to do whatever it takes to get my dad’s photo added to that wall.

And, most recently, I read another book called “McCarthy, Monmouth and The Deep State,” which chronicles former U.S. Senator Joe McCarthy’s legal battles with the U.S. Army. The book’s focus is on the fact that a number of Communist spies were discovered working at Camp Evans (my dad’s workplace!) during the late 1940’s, including the legendary Julius Rosenberg!

Along the way in that book, there is testimony from Alan Sterling Gross, an engineer who studied electromagnetic wave propagation at Camp Evans, as he’s being interviewed by one of Joe McCarthy’s lawyers. Gross is asked “Are you aware of any subversive activities at Fort Monmouth?” Gross responds, “No, the Army has very good security regulations there now – they have been amplified with THE BLUE BOOK.”

Excerpted from the book (page 83): “Project Blue Book? This leads the reader to ask him/herself, ‘What is the Air Force’s UFO Project doing in an Army installation?’ One answer might be that regulations required other service branches at that time to report any UFO sighting or radar data on UFOs to the U.S. Air Force.”

Analyzing the Clues about Jack Harary:

Here is a summary of the clues I have assembled about my father:

** Jack Harary was a Physicist and Electronics Engineer for the U.S. Army from 1951-1996.

** With Top Secret Clearance, my father was involved in the invention of Military Drones, New Guided Missiles and New Radar systems.

** He went to White Sands Missile Testing range “all the time,” according to my mother.

** My father gave talks at the Pentagon quite often (when I was a child), and once told me he’d written a paper that had been read by President Kennedy.

** According to my mom, my dad saw something “above top secret” in the early 1960’s, and he was “never the same” after that day.

** My dad’s workplace, Ft. Monmouth, was the site of some of the most significant electronics breakthroughs in military history – over 4,000 patents were issued for their technologies.

** Richard Dolan’s book cites two significant UFO sightings above Ft. Monmouth – one in 1951 and the other in 1952. My dad began work there a few months before the first sighting in 1951.

** According to Steven Greer, Ft. Monmouth was one of 145 U.S. military bases that he has proof of, through his whistleblower network, that was involved in the reverse-engineering of recovered UFO tech.

** According to the book “McCarthy, Monmouth and the Deep State,” Ft. Monmouth was involved with Project Blue Book, in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force.

** Jack had a major UFO sighting with his beloved, eldest son, ME, and looked bored! He winked at me at the end of that sighting, before saying, “Come on, kid, let’s go home.”

Now, after having put all of these clues together about my father’s mysterious work for the U.S. Army, I have become convinced that HE MUST HAVE KNOWN what the giant, silver V, UFO was that we saw together in 1970! Today, I honestly believe that it was a manmade, American military drone that had incorporated recovered Alien technology from crashed UFOs.

And since my Dad invented missiles, drones and radar systems -- all things that had to do with flying in the sky -- for 45 years, he may even have been involved in the design of that giant silver V. I am convinced that my Dad must have been aware of whatever futuristic technology existed within America’s military industrial complex that had allowed the giant V, UFO craft to glide so silently and effortlessly above our heads, nearly 50 years previous. After all, my father began working for the U.S. Army just four years after the infamous UFO crash at Roswell in 1947!  And it marries perfectly with WHERE he worked and the kinds of work that he and the other scientists performed at Ft. Monmouth for so many years.

And what if that big, giant, silver V was not man-made? Well, then I would have to tell you, my dear reader, that what my father and I experienced that day was a truly remarkable spacecraft from another planet, star system, time, or dimension. But whatever it was, my brilliant father seemed to find it commonplace and utterly non-threatening. If my Dad knew that extraterrestrial life did, indeed, exist on Planet Earth, between 1951 and his death in 2017, he, unfortunately, took that history-altering information with him to his grave.

I strongly believe that, most likely, it was my father, from Heaven, who sent me that magical movie download in the deli, just days after his death. I think it was his way of saying, “Danny, I couldn’t share with you the details about my work with UFOs while I was alive! I signed NDA’s with the Army. But now that I’m dead, I wanted you to know that I KNEW ALL ABOUT that giant V spacecraft we saw back in 1970 -- after all, it was one of my top-secret projects!”

In conclusion, I would sincerely wish to thank my late father, Jack Robert Harary, for contacting me “from the other side,” just days after his passing. Were it not for that memorable 1970 UFO sighting, which led to me receiving my Dad’s “home movie download from Heaven” in 2017, I never would have written After They Came, which led to me creating the Hollywood Disclosure Alliance, which led to me being offered my own podcast, which led to me becoming the Director of Media Relations for Contact In The Desert, which led me to conceiving and launching The WOW! Signal News Service.

All of these remarkable UFO-related events in my life seemed to have been pre-destined to take place. I simply walked through each door as they opened before me.

None of the accomplishments I have achieved during the past eight years would ever have taken place had it not been for my craving a pastrami sandwich just a few days after my beloved father passed away in April 2017.

Today, as I am deeply entrenched within the Disclosure Movement, I’d like to think that my efforts are my way of thanking my father for all he did, both for ME and for AMERICA, during his lifetime. And, more importantly, through my UFO activities, I feel that today, I am able to help give him a voice and help tell his story to my colleagues, peers and friends, as well as to the world of UFOlogy at large.

I only wish my father was alive, today, so I could ask him: “SO DAD, WHAT DID YOU REALLY KNOW ABOUT UFOS?”
