It’s Hollywood for the Win

Capitol Disclosure By Stephen Bassett

The modern era engagement of the human race by extraterrestrial beings begins in 1947.* The nuclear arms race begins in 1949 with the first Soviet bomb test – First Lightning.

The creators of the golden age of science fiction that began in the late 1930s embraced these two most profound developments in human history, turning science fiction into the most lucrative genre of entertainment on the planet.*

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) lists approximately 8,436 feature films in the science fiction genre that have received at least 50 user ratings. The total revenues from these films, including gross ticket sales, licensing, product sales, is in the hundreds of billions adjusted for inflation.

The bulk of that revenue comes from a particular set of films – the over 2000 films that have alien/extraterrestrial themes.

The creators of science fiction are quite intelligent and did not overlook the implications of the dual emergence of the nuclear arms race. They did not waste time.

Four years after the events in Roswell New Mexico a film was in development that premiered on September 18, 1951. The Day the Earth Stood Still was directed by none other than Robert Wise, one of the most accomplished directors of the 20th Century. The core theme was atomic weapons made humans a danger to themselves and “others.”

In parting the alien Klaatu states an interplanetary organization has created a police force of invincible robots like Gort that have been given absolute power over Earth. Humans must choose to live in peace or face obliteration.

This theme has been repeated many times since 1951 with the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still having a much more severe outcome.

As for the extraterrestrial presence itself, I am going to make a very strong statement I cannot prove. Many of the 2000+ alien/extraterrestrial themed films were produced and directed by some of the most intelligent and talented people in the film industry. I believe the majority of these film professionals were absolutely convinced there is an extraterrestrial presence when they made the movies.

With that in mind let’s examine a timeline for the most important sci-fi films, and a couple major television series, with an extraterrestrial theme.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (Robert Wise) September 18, 1951 – discussed above.

Star Trek Original Series (Gene Roddenberry) September 8, 1966 – Star Trek makes its debut during Project Blue Book. Though the truth embargo was being constructed, there was a growing interest and optimism the truth would be revealed. By the time the hammer came down in 1969, this series filled with extraterrestrials was entrenched never to leave the airways. This year marked the first UFO hearing.

2001: A Space Odyssey (Stanley Kubrick) April 3, 1968 – shortly before Project Blue Book is shut down, Kubrick premiers his masterpiece. It was perhaps another reason the government slammed the door shut with so loudly the following year. This year marked the second UFO hearing. There would not be another for 55 years.

Star Wars (George Lucas) May 25, 1977 – the truth embargo has the issue well contained when two major films premiere. Star Wars cast the extraterrestrial theme out in the galaxy with a western motif. The managers of the truth embargo likely saw it as fun and not a challenge. They did not expect it would become a massive, multi-decade phenomena filled with all manner of extraterrestrials – some quite likable.

Close encounters of the Third Kind (Steven Spielberg) November 16, 1977 – this film marked the entrance of the most important and powerful director/producer engaging the issue. Project Blue Book was eight years gone, NICAP was destroyed. This film began a resurgence of interest one year prior to the entrance of Jess Marcel Sr.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Robert Wise, Gene Roddenberry) December 7, 1979 – as mentioned above, it was never going away.

ET The Extraterrestrial (Steven Spielberg) June 11, 1982 – As only he could, Spielberg made the idea of an extraterrestrial lovable and non-violent. And oh yeah, the government provided the bad guys.

Independence Day (Roland Emmerich) July 3, 1996 – the same year the Rockefeller Initiative ended, a win for the truth embargo, the ultimate evil alien film drops. It should be noted the DOD refused to further cooperate with this recruiting extravaganza when it learned Area 51 and the Roswell vehicle were in the script.

Contact (Robert Zemeckis, Carl Sagan) (July 11, 1997 – a safe approach to the idea we are not alone. The truth embargo was well under control. I have so many questions about this film.

Taken Series (Steven Spielberg) December 2, 2002 – there is a huge background story to this series that has yet to be fully presented. It involves the Sci Fi Channel, John Podesta, the Coalition for the Freedom of Information and a massive series that not only addresses contactees but the truth embargo as well. I believe a mainstream effort to break the truth embargo was in the works that ultimately faded.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (remake) (Erwin Stoff) December 12, 2008 – with nuclear clock drawing closer to midnight, the ending of the remake was much more severe.

In 2017 the long-awaited breakthrough the Disclosure movement needed takes place. Much progress is made over the next four years, and Hollywood responds with one streaming documentary series after another and a major documentary film leading up to a fictional feature film with a name that can’t be misconstrued. While the political capital of the U.S. remains embroiled in controversy and division impeding some excellent Disclosure efforts underway, the entertainment/cultural capital of the U.S. is taken the reins and driving the issue home for the win.

Beyond UFOS  (JJ Abrams) August 8, 2021

Encounters (Steven Spielberg) September 27, 2023

Beyond: UFOs and the Unknown (JJ Abrams) October 27, 2024.

The Age of Disclosure (Dan Farah) November 21, 2025

Disclosure Day (Steven Spielberg) June 12, 2026

Finally, if you haven’t decided yet who in Hollywood has the power to elicit Disclosure from the President, I give you this:

* I am weary of serving the politically safe or more comforting terminology such as technologically advanced non-humans, non-human biologics, humans from the future, Earth-evolved non-humans living underground for countless millennia or multidimensionals. They are extraterrestrials from other star systems. Just ask Giorgio.

* This lucrative genre also includes all television and book revenues.
